And the day/night system is neat in concept but can be a bit annoying. well I've heard the visuals described as being Oblivion-esque, which is pretty accurate and not necessarily a bad thing (I'm actually one of those weird people who love Oblivion visuals), but just feels like a weird fit to me. It's not particularly faithful to the original look, but it's still somewhat clunky to play (neither control scheme feels very natural, even if you're coming directly off playing classic node-based point and clicks) and a bit shaky on the graphical side, with some odd performance hitches and a style that's very. RM:M is still Myst, so it's still great, but I've always felt like it was in a very awkward 'neither hot nor cold' spot that makes it probably my least favorite version of the classic game.
Guess I'll go to against the grain here and suggest the new remake before realMyst Masterpiece.
